For this briefing, Jamie Sumner, chief analyst, reviews the 2Q performance of the community bank benchmark group. Overall, earnings improved, and net PPP loan growth was greater than 5.6%. The average ROAA increased to over 1%, fueled primarily by an improvement in net interest margin. As for the S&B Total Risk Index, our measure of total risk increased slightly quarter over quarter.
